Shaw Road Rape Investigation

Rape Investigation


(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Special Victims Unit are investigating a rape that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, August 29, 2016 in the area of Shaw Road near Old Shaw Road.


The investigation revealed that the victim was at an address along the 4300 block of Bragg Boulevard and accepted a ride from the suspect to get to her destination.  The suspect was operating what was described as an older model Honda sedan and drove the victim to an area behind a church on Shaw Road.  During travel, the suspect produced a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim if she attempted to escape.  The suspect then raped the victim, before stealing her purse and telephone, at which point he fled the area.


The suspect was described as a black male, medium skin complexion, mid to late 40’s, 5’05-5’07 in height and weighed approximately 140-160 pounds.  The suspect had a goatee that appeared to be well-kept.  The suspect’s vehicle was described as a gray older model Honda sedan.  Surveillance images of the suspect’s vehicle have been attached to the media release for dissemination.




Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
