Vehicles Burglarized at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center - Crime of the Week

  • On October 5, 2017 at approximately 5:19 am, officers responded to the hospital in reference to an employee who had come to the parking lot and discovered that their vehicle had been burglarized.  During the canvass, officers would locate ten (10) vehicles that had been burglarized.  In at least one of the incidents, a handgun was stolen from the vehicles.  The other thefts included change currency, small electronic items and a purse. 

     

  • On October 7, 2017 at approximately 2:11 am, security from CFVMC called 911 to report that they had observed a vehicle that had been burglarized and additionally observed individuals fleeing from the area.   Once officers responded to the area, they would locate fourteen (14) vehicles that had been burglarized.  Again, in at least one of the incidents, a handgun and ammunition was stolen from one of the vehicles.  The other thefts included a purse, currency and small electronic items.

     

  • The vast majority of the burglaries involved a window being broken on the vehicle to gain entry.

     

  • We are working with CFVMC to obtain any video surveillance that may have captured the suspects on video.

     

  • As a reminder, we encourage citizens not to leave any valuables in plain sight inside of a vehicle and please do not leave weapons in a vehicle that can be compromised.
