(Fayetteville, NC) – On Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at approximately 1:59 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of Maxine Street to investigate the report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located evidence that a serious injury had occurred on the property. The officers then entered the residence through the front door and confirmed that the residence was unoccupied.
FPD officers then responded to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after dispatchers received confirmation that they were currently treating a male stabbing victim who was recently admitted. FPD officers arrived at the hospital and confirmed that the male victim had expired from his injuries.
FPD officers located a male subject in the area of Maxine Drive who resides at the initial residence. As a result of their field interview he is currently being questioned by detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit.
Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the death and additional information will be released as it becomes available. The name of the victim is currently being withheld.
