Additional Arrest Made for Homicide of Ross Curry III

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged and arrested an additional suspect regarding the homicide of Ross Curry III, which occurred along the 1600 block of Clairborne Drive on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

Amonte McDougald

Amonte E. McDougald (B/M, 18 years of age), of the 7500 block of Decatur Drive, has been arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder. McDougald turned himself into authorities on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. McDougald was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

There is no additional information to release.

Arrest Made for Homicide of Ross Curry III

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Cross Creek District Community Empowerment Response Team (CERT), have made an arrest regarding the homicide of Ross Curry III which occurred along the 1600 block of Clairborne Drive on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

 

Montez Lofton

 

Montez D. Lofton (B/M, 19 years of age), of the 1300 block of Yellow Ribbon Drive, has been arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact of 1st Degree Murder. Lofton was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $500,000 secured bond.

 

This is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are expected to be forthcoming.

Update to Shooting - Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – The victim in the shooting that occurred on Clairborne Drive has been confirmed as deceased. He has been positively identified as B/M Ross Curry III, 25 years old with a previous address of 77th SFG Way, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. (Former Military) There is no current address available at this time.

Shooting Investigation

(Fayetteville, NC) – This morning on, April 14, 2019 at approximately 1:44 am officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of Clairborne Drive in reference to a shooting with at least one subject wounded.

 

FPD officers arrived on scene and located one male subject at that location suffering from a gunshot wound. The subject was transported by ambulance to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.   

 

Currently, FPD officers along with detectives are on scene investigating this shooting.

 

This remains an ongoing investigation. There is no additional information to release.
