35th Annual Crimestoppers BBQ

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Friday, April 26, 2019 the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers Non-Profit Organization is hosting the 35th Annual Crimestoppers Benefit BBQ in the parking lot of Harris Teeter on Raeford Road, which is located at 2800 Raeford Road.

Volunteers will serve plates of delicious BBQ, coleslaw, potato salad, and a dinner roll between the hours of 11:00 am and 7:00 pm. The plates are being sold for $8.00 each and volunteers are asking for a $1.00 donation for an ice cold drink.

The BBQ fundraiser helps raise money that funds the Crimestoppers Program, which provides cash rewards for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest of a suspect or suspects associated with an active investigation.

Volunteers will prepare an estimated 3,000 platters, which includes:

  • 1,312 pounds of BBQ
  • 1,125 pounds of coleslaw
  • 1,125 pounds of potato salad
  • 3,000 dinner rolls

Since inception, Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers has provided information resulting in the arrest of more than 3,108 felons, recovered more than $6.7 million in property and narcotics, and have paid out over $312,000.00 in rewards. Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers was also awarded with the 2017 Productivity Award for a population of 300,000 – 400,000 by the Southeastern Crimestoppers Association (SECSA) and the organization is hoping to be awarded the 2018 Productivity Award during the SECSA 2019 May Conference.

Success is owed to the many citizens and businesses that have volunteered time and money to this productive program. The Fayetteville Police Department provides a full-time investigator along with staff support to manage the program.

Please support the Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers Program by purchasing a plate of BBQ for lunch, dinner, or both on Friday, April 26, 2019. We also encourage anyone heading to the 2019 Dogwood Festival Friday to stop by for a BBQ plate while they are en route to downtown Fayetteville!

Crimestoppers is a proven method of solving crimes and is instrumental in the recovery of millions of dollars worth of stolen merchandise and narcotics. The success of the program depends on citizen support either by donations or by providing anonymous information. Your involvement in Crimestoppers will make our community a safer place to live, work, and play.

All media outlets are invited and encouraged to attend.
