Update to Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified two (2) victims of the shooting that occurred on Monday, May 20, 2019 along the 100 block of Homeplace Court and have charged and arrested two (2) suspects.

 

The victims have been identified as Torin Walker (B/M, 25 years of age) and Deandre Parson (B/F, 23 years of age), both of the 100 block of Homeplace Court. Walker succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting on scene. Parson was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she currently remains in fair condition.

 

Detectives have charged and arrested Byron D. McMillian (B/M, 27 years of age), of the 100 block of Hall Road in Erwin, North Carolina and Tony D. Surles (B/M, 19 years of age), of the 400 block of Saturn Drive in Dunn, North Carolina. McMillian and Surles have both been charged with 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. McMillian and Surles are currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

Detectives have located and interviewed a third subject, who was mentioned during the early stages of the investigation, and no charges have been filed against the third subject. The gold colored sedan detectives were looking for has also been located and recovered, with the assistance of the Dunn Police Department. The investigation thus far has revealed this was not a random act of violence, as the victims knew at least one of the suspects.

 

This remains an ongoing investigation. There is no additional information to release.

Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Monday, May 20, 2019, at approximately 8:12 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 100 block of Homeplace Court reference a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and located two victims suffering who had been shot inside of the residence. One of the victims was pronounced deceased on the scene. The other victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The names of the victims are currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the homicide and request anyone with information to contact them. One suspect is currently detained; detectives are actively looking for another suspect.

Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information submitted to Crimestoppers that leads to an arrest.
