Detectives Continue to Investigate the Homicide of McKinley Summers Jr.

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate the homicide of McKinley Summers Jr., which occurred along the 5900 block of Cliffdale Road on Thursday, August 8, 2019, and are releasing suspect vehicle information as detectives continue to solicit information from the public.

Detectives have obtained information indicating the suspect(s) were operating a silver Dodge with black rims or missing hub caps. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Cliffdale Road and Skibo Road as well as the area of Raeford Road and Hope Mills Road. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in the identification or any sightings of a vehicle matching this description.

Update to Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified the victim of the homicide that occurred along the 5900 block of Cliffdale Road on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

 

The victim has been identified as McKinley Summers Jr. (B/M, 30 years of age), of the 5100 block of Patton Street.

 

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the homicide and request anyone with information contact them.

The Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information submitted to Crimestoppers that leads to an arrest.

Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Thursday, August 8, 2019, at approximately 9:33 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 5900 block of Cliffdale Road reference a reported shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene and the victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition, where he succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the homicide and request anyone with information contact them.

The Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information submitted to Crimestoppers that leads to an arrest.

Cliffdale Road is currently closed as a result of the shooting and motorists are encouraged to use Morganton Road or Raeford Road as an alternate route until the roadway can be reopened. The roadway is expected to remain closed through Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 am.
