Update to Hit and Run Fatality

(Fayetteville, NC) – Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit have identified the pedestrians involved in the hit and run that resulted in a fatality along Murchison Road on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

One of the pedestrians has been identified as Titius C. Patterson (B/M, 24 years of age), of the 600 block of E Raynor Drive. Patterson was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. 

The other pedestrain has been identified as Michael T. Speas (B/M, 24 years of age), of the 200 block of Alexander Street. Speas was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

The suspect vehicle has not been located, it is described as a burgundy sedan.

Update to Traffic Crash / Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – All lanes of Murchison Road have reopened to traffic.

Traffic Crash / Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Thursday, January 2, 2020, at approximately 7:34 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a hit and run vehicle crash involving two pedestrians on Murchison Road near Country Club Drive.

Upon the arrival of officers and medical personnel, they located two (2) pedestrians who were struck by a vehicle. Both pedestrians were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where one succumbed to their injuries and the other has non life threatening injuries.

All outbound lanes on Murchison Road are closed at Country Club Drive as the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is on scene conducting the investigation.

The suspect vehicle is described as a burgundy passenger car.  

The identities of those involved are currently being withheld until immediate family members can be notified.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route until the roadway can be reopened.
