Suspect Charged and Arrested in Homicide Investigation

Suspect Charged and Arrested in Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a suspect in connection with the shooting death of Maurice Williams which occurred on January 30, 2020, near the intersection of Ames Street and Filter Plant Drive.

 

With the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office along with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (Probation), detectives were able to identify and charge Devoire Nash (B/M, 22 years of age), of the 1700 block of Doyle Court with First Degree Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Nash was arrested on February 4, 2020, without incident. He is currently being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

 

There is no additional information to release.

Update to Shooting Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified the victim of the shooting death which occurred near the intersection of Filter Plant Drive and Ames Street.

 

Maurice Williams, (B/M, 48 years of age) of Fayetteville was pronounced deceased on the scene. His next of kin has been notified.

 

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the shooting and request anyone with information to contact them.

Shooting Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Thursday, January 30, 2020, at approximately 12:25 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the intersection of Filter Plant Drive and Ames Street reference a report of an unresponsive male lying in the roadway.

Officers arrived on scene and located one (1) male victim lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wound(s). Officers summoned medical personnel to the scene, where the victim was pronounced deceased.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the shooting and request anyone with information to contact them.

The Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crimestoppers program is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information submitted to Crimestoppers that leads to an arrest.
