What is Crime Stoppers?

Crime Stoppers is a proven, effective method of helping law enforcement authorities bring criminals to justice. Nationwide, the conviction rate for arrests made with the assistance of Crime Stopper tips is more than 98%. It works because citizens provide the police with information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of crime offenders.

There are two important aspects of this unique program. First, it provides an incentive for people with the information to come forth by offering cash rewards. In addition, Crime Stoppers protects their safety by assuring the complete anonymity of anyone who submits a tip.

Locally, Fayetteville / Cumberland Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a community program operated by citizens like you, who want to take an active role in fighting crime in our area. Our 15-member Board of Directors administers the Crime Stoppers program, in cooperation with the Fayetteville Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Spring Lake Police Department, and the Hope Mills Police Department.

Citizens are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477 (TIPS) if they have information regarding criminal activity.  This number is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is designated for Crime Stoppers information only.  All calls are kept in complete confidence. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by downloading the FREE P3 Tips App on your mobile device or online electronically. If the information you provide leads to an arrest or charges, you may receive a cash reward, as determined by the citizen board, of as much as $2,000.  The amount of the reward varies and depends upon factors such as the information given, the nature of the crime committed, and the value of any property or narcotics seized. Also, Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for any information that results in the arrest of fugitives from justice or anyone committing a felony or serious misdemeanor.

Crime Stoppers is a proven method of solving crimes and is instrumental in the recovery of millions of dollars worth of stolen merchandise and narcotics. The success of the program depends on citizen support, either by donations or by providing information. Your involvement in Crime Stoppers will make our community a safer place to live.
